Blake's War 02: Capellan Confederation

My first contact with the wider Battletech universe happened when I was but a kid. My father wanted me to read more, so he bought me a few books. Among them were the only Battletech novels ever translated into Portuguese - the Gray Death Legion Trilogy. I was immediately enamored with the setting. This meant the stompy robots, but also the combined arms, the human drama, the high-end politics, and historical feel of all of it. Thus, this universe latched onto my psyche, never to let go.

 

My brother and I promptly started making Lego builds of the iconic Battlemechs, as we were big fans of that kind of toys. As the years went by we made both big and small models. We also crafted all sorts of crazy stories about them and their pilots, taking cues from the strategy videogames we had, even crafting an entire alternative universe (AU) out of Starcraft - that was the beginning of what I would eventually call Blake’s War.

 

I would eventually grow out of such toys for a decade, until I started making them again to play wargames when I finally found about them. The original plan wasn’t to turn these building exercises into a new series of Battletech models, but as you may imagine, this was pretty much an inevitability. So, as I made the models I shared them online and people started to ask for instructions. One thing led to another and soon I had a blog where I posted instructions for Lego builds every other week. I still do.

 

After a long time promising to deliver some compilations of such builds, here they are, for now faction focused. I hope to later mesh them into larger era-specific books delving deeper into the Blake’s War AU. Thus, the story bits here combine official and fan-made elements, so don’t use them as references for official lore and instead refer to official products for that.
